Berkara Mining and Metallurgical Complex
An operating copper mining and metallurgical complex near the district centre of Aktogay: open-pit ore mining and finished-product output.
Operating copper production
The mining and metallurgical complex at the Berkara deposit conducts open-pit mining of copper ore and produces finished products. Production was launched in 2023 and has reached its design capacity of 5.5–6 thousand tonnes of copper per year.
The process flowsheet delivers copper recovery of up to 70% from mixed ores and up to 80% from oxidised ores, with off-balance (sub-economic) material from dumps brought into processing.
The complex's resource base comprises ore in the open pit and off-balance (sub-economic) ore in dumps, providing a horizon of stable operation into the early 2030s with potential for extension.
